Summer Retreat
Every summer I host Ross in Connecticut and we discuss all things travel: how our tours are going, ideas for future trips, and everything else that goes into running a business. Of course, we have lots of fun while doing it!
Ross’s trip started with every traveler’s nightmare: delays and cancellations due to the CrowdStrike bug. He arrived at the Atlanta airport on Thursday to find his flight canceled. I had a feeling that it would be fruitless for him to stay at the airport and hope to get another flight, so I told him to just go home and try again tomorrow.
He did finally make it here on Friday - after getting up at 5am only to be further delayed and arrive at LaGuardia after 5pm!

Believe it or not, Ross had never been to Brooklyn! We originally had grand plans for Friday (shopping, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens) but unfortunately those all had to be scrapped after the travel meltdown. Luckily Ross did make it here in time for dinner. I took him to Le Crocodile in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Le Crocodile serves French-inspired food in a bright, lofty setting. It’s one of my personal favorites and it did not disappoint tonight.
After a busy morning working, on Saturday afternoon we headed up to northern Connecticut to one of our favorite stores: Plain Goods in New Preston. We love this small, locally-owned store that sells a mix of men’s and women’s clothing and antiques (everything we love under one roof!).
We never leave empty handed!

We then headed over to Pine Plains, NY to Stissing House, another of our absolute favorite restaurants. Stissing House has a long history as a colonial tavern (note the George Washington portraits) and has recently come under the wing of a fabulous women chef. The food is simple, local, and delicious.
Ross at Stissing House - always order the brownie sundae!
